The Consolidated Metering Code of Practice (CoMCoP) is the set of rules we follow to make sure you get a brilliant standard of service when we install your new smart meter.
These guidelines were created by Ofgem, the government department that regulates the UK energy market. You can view the full Code of Practice to find out more here.
Our promise to you
To meet the CoMCoP standards, we promise to:
Use expert installers: Every engineer is trained to the highest possible standards.
Give you the information you need: We’ll make sure every message we send is clear and contains all the information you actually need.
Support everyone: We provide dedicated help and tailored service for anyone who is vulnerable or needs a bit of extra support.
Make things right: If something goes wrong with your smart equipment, we’ll act quickly and keep you updated on our progress.
On the day of your installation
Once your engineer has connected your new meter, they’ll:
Offer you an In-Home Display (IHD): This device lets you track your home’s energy use and costs in real time.
Show you how to use your new meter: They’ll demonstrate exactly how your new meter and IHD work so you can get the maximum value from them both.
Share energy-saving tips: You’ll get practical advice on how to use less energy and lower your energy bills.
Your privacy and data
We take your data security seriously. You’re in control of how much information your smart meter shares with us, whether that’s every half-hour, once a day, or once a month.
